Tooting out into the #fediverse 🐘 🎺
Let it be known that today I finally got the go-fed-tool to not just generate #ActivityStreams, but any extension that builds on ActivityStreams, and recursively on top of extensions.
Last major things to do before I work on the "pub" side of go-fed/activity:
- Resolver, PredicateResolver
- Managing `context` strings
- Migrate unit tests to new code generated stuff
non-programmers are an important part of open source projects. non-programmer contributions are valid and useful and not second tier or otherwise less valuable.
it's easy to say programmers are the only value-add when you're fortunate enough to have enough non-programmers that you can take them for granted.
if you take away the feature requests, translations, and general chatter - many OSS projects would have never been more than flawed, narrow use case tech demos.
“I’m against surveillance capitalism but Google’s service is listed first on my app because it is so popular” is the “I’m against the tobacco industry but I offer anyone coming into my home a cigarette because smoking’s so popular” of tech.
If you offer people easy access to cigarettes without so much as a warning about the risks, you might want to reconsider whether you really are against Big Tobacco or whether you’re doing their bidding.
FOSDEM is a conference entirely made by volunteers. While a small crew works on it year-round, most of the work during the conference is done by a large, enthusiastic group of great people who donate their time to make FOSDEM happen: you! https://volunteers.fosdem.org/
@jalcine Thanks for joining! :D We're hoping to do good things this year.
Make sure to join our chat also, #feneas:feneas.org on #Matrix or #feneas on FreeNode (bridged together). More and more people from all around hanging there as days go by, hoping to make it a generic place for #federated web discussion cross projects and platforms.
I'm going to work full-time on free software
"What's on your mind?"
Me, thinking: Death, legacy, how to live a good life, the pursuit of happiness, what do I want out of life, am I a good person, do I really understand love, am I wasting my time, what am I missing out on, will I ever feel grown up, what does success mean, what have I done with my life, can I survive on my own, would I want to, what if this is my last day, why can't I express myself adequately, does any of it matter, …
Me: "Not much. You?"
Anyone know a good library for validating HTTP signatures in PHP? I was looking at https://github.com/99designs/http-signatures-php, but it looks like it doesn't support RSA signatures yet...
